Elon Musk’s surprise August 2025 trip to B.C.’s central coast has sparked speculation after the billionaire was spotted en route to the private retreat of media heir James Murdoch – located only 12 miles south of the remote wilderness haven of Manitou Creek.

The world’s richest man, with a net worth estimated at US\$413 billion, landed his private jet in Bella Bella on Saturday before transferring to a helicopter that flew toward Nascall Bay. There, Murdoch – a Tesla board member and son of Rupert Murdoch – owns a sprawling resort complex featuring the secluded Nascall Hot Springs.

Musk had arrived in Vancouver on Friday, according to flight-tracking account elonjet.net, after departing San Jose, California. The next day, Musk and one of his sons took a short flight to Bella Bella before continuing to the Murdoch compound by helicopter.

The visit was confirmed when CBC obtained a photo showing Musk stepping off a helicopter with his son.

While Musk holds Canadian citizenship through his mother, Regina-born Maye Musk, this trip appeared more about leisure than family roots. Murdoch, whose family ranks No. 90 on the global rich list with US\$24 billion, has quietly turned his coastal property into one of the most exclusive destinations in the Pacific Northwest.

By Monday afternoon, Musk’s jet had departed Vancouver, according to elonjet.net.

The meeting of the two billionaires in such a remote corner of British Columbia has fueled intrigue, especially given the compound’s proximity to Manitou Creek, an area drawing increasing international attention for its ecological and investment value.
